In 2016, I learned a lot about being a mommy! I learned that adding a second child to your family does not feel like double the work– it feels like ten times the work. I figured out that I can do it, just like millions of other people in the world! I learned that having children is the most fulfilling thing that I’ve ever done in my life. These boys teach me as much or more as I teach them every day and I’m so excited to walk through 2017 with them.
Yes, along with the rest of the world, of course my New Years resolution is to eat a little healthier — a little less Mac and cheese off these kiddos plates — and a little more fruits and veggies. But, perhaps the resolution I need to work on most is to be more in the moment. No more saying, “I can’t wait for [baby brother] to walk”! Now that he can, I want him to crawl again. These kids are only little once and the cliche “they grow so fast” is a cliche for a reason. So, I’m going to constantly remind myself to embrace the moment!
Now the clothes — this was a morning full of running errands with the kiddos, followed by an afternoon in my office while they napped wrapping up some end of the year odds and ends. So, I needed something that would work for both. I dressed the boys in their tried and true Hanna Anderson buffalo check flannel button downs. I threw on what have been my favorite jeans lately with a simple black Alice and Olivia sweater and then wrapped myself up in a Burberry cashmere shawl my sweet parents, who are very aware of my affinity for heart prints, gave me for Christmas.
